What is Hyperhidrosis Treatment?

Hyperhidrosis is a condition that is characterized by excessive sweating, especially under the arms or in the palms of the hands. Sweating is a natural bodily function, but it can become a problem if it commonly occurs without exercise or warm weather to trigger it. Fortunately, there are a number of options when it comes to excessive sweating treatment at Plastic Surgery and Dermatology Associates. We offer both oral and topical medications that can help eliminate hyperhidrosis symptoms, and may recommend one or the other depending on the severity of your condition. We also offer Botox® injections to help reduce excessive sweating in the armpits and the hands.

How Much Does Hyperhidrosis Treatment Cost?

The cost of your hyperhidrosis treatment at Plastic Surgery and Dermatology Associates can vary, and may be covered by health insurance. If this is the case, we will determine your coverage during your consultation in order to provide you with the exact cost of your treatment. In an effort to keep our treatments accessible, we are proud to accept CareCredit® financing in addition to traditional payment methods.

How is Hyperhidrosis Treated with Botox®?

Botox® is known to be an effective treatment for facial wrinkles thanks to its ability to relax facial muscles, preventing muscle contractions that form wrinkles. It can be used in a similar way to reduce excessive sweating. When injected into the sweat glands in the armpits or the hands, the Botox® formula blocks nerve signals to the brain that trigger sweating. As a result, the sweat glands cease to produce sweat. The results from Botox® treatment can last as long as four months, meaning that repeated treatment will be necessary to maintain the results.
