Spider Vein Treatment

Spider veins, although harmless, can be an unwanted cosmetic feature. Plastic Surgery and Dermatology Associates is proud to offer spider vein treatment to help residents of Fairfax, Washington DC, Arlington and Annandale, VA, and the nearby cities, achieve clear, beautiful skin.

What is Spider Vein Treatment?

Spider veins are veins in the body that are visible from the skin’s surface, which mostly form on the face or legs. They can be blue, red or purple, and most commonly appear in women and older populations. Although they are harmless, many patients seek spider vein treatment to achieve clearer skin. At Plastic Surgery and Dermatology Associates, we offer laser spider vein treatment using the Nd:YAG laser system. Using laser energy, we are able to target the desired veins from the skin’s surface. By exposing the problematic veins to heat, they lose blood flow and gradually fade away. Since there are many functioning veins in the body, patients do not need to worry about any repercussions regarding blood circulation.

How Much Does Spider Vein Treatment Cost?

The cost of your spider vein treatment at Plastic Surgery and Dermatology Associates will depend on a number of factors, including the size of the treatment area and the number of treatments needed. During your initial consultation, we will review your treatment goals in order to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your personal needs. Once this treatment plan is developed, we will be able to provide you with the exact cost of your procedure. In an effort to keep our treatments accessible, we are proud to accept CareCredit® financing in addition to traditional payment methods.

What is the Spider Vein Treatment Like?

During spider vein treatment, we will target the desired spider veins from the skin’s surface. Then, laser energy will be carefully delivered to the spider veins, without harming the surrounding tissue. This process causes the vein to close off, cutting off blood flow. As a result, the body will break down the vein and it will fade from view. This treatment is typically well-tolerated, and takes less than an hour to perform.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect After My Spider Vein Treatment?

After your spider vein treatment, you may notice results immediately depending on the size of the treated veins. Small veins may fade instantly, but larger veins may require multiple treatments for complete removal.

Is There Downtime After Spider Vein Treatment?

After your spider vein treatment, you may experience redness or sensitivity in the treatment area, much like a sunburn. It is important to limit sun exposure while the skin heals, as it will be highly sensitive to sunlight. However, these effects typically fade within a week, and should not prevent patients from returning to work or other normal activities.
